Today's Social:

Went in the rain - arse to you, rain - to King's Cross and despite some catafuckbulling on my part arrived in time-ish for lunch with Maud and Matthew. Maud had to depart again reasonably swiftly, but this is okay because Saturday's socialling also involves showing up at Maud's house and stealing all her books. Matthew was in much finer fettle than he was last time I saw him, and looks rather healthier as well as sounding much more alive, alert, and excited about life. We ended up talking for more hours than expected, which is always a pleasant surprise.

Lunch was at Camino in King's X, where I had tapas & VERY THICK HOT CHOCOLATE (best kind), tapas consisting of squid ink and cuttlefish rice and some calamari, the latter of which was not the tedious old rings and swirls but also whole baby cephalopods coated in batter and fried. I fear I have done great injustice to the cleverest molluscs in the sea today but in my defence they were some tasty motherfuckers and I would probably eat human babies as well if they were seasoned nicely.

What I SHOULD have done was get in the bath with some Cadfael and soothed my pains and now it is too late in the day, boo hiss. Instead I continued my idiot mission of embroidery, didn't write any more of Vessel 151-B, and watched the last episodes of both The Dark Ages thingy (about the Norse, Anglo-Saxons, etc), and Rome: The Eternal City. I presume that the death of the documentaries I was watching will put a dampener on my embroidery for a bit but on the other hand I do have a David Attenborough box set you could murder a burglar with, and that's fine embroidering accompaniment.
