Then you'd be "sycophants", allegedly.

Anyone who calls me a sycophant gets a punch in the face.

*sigh* oh, fandom. Why you gotta be like that?!

Because they have sand in their fannies.

Wouldn't it be awesome to like, write fic and get comments for it?

NO BECAUSE ALL THE COMMENTS WOULD BE CRAPULENT FUCKTARDERY.

*reads* I'm afraid this just serves to show me what a monumental timesink fandom is. Think I'd rather play bejewelled.

i'd be tempted to respond with "have you ever met a female boxer? no? then how do you know she's unrealistic" but i doubt that would help....

Oh you just know one of them would be, and therefore because I wasn't representing HER experience I was wrong about ALL FEMALE BOXERS EVER.

and they haven't invented technology that would allow you to reach thru your computer screen and smack someone yet.... it's too bad you can't just post it for the people who would read it and enjoy it and not take issue with ariadne because she's not their personal conception of how women in fic should be written. hmph, fandom.

I just wish people in general would stop expecting every female character to be able to fulfill every female role! I don't want to write an everywoman!

You could always write the five hundred chapter epic of "She's totally empowered, really, but doesn't want anything as demanding as a relationship or a plot that revolves around her life, so will devote her energy to encouraging two guys to hook up while acting entirely too spunky and empowered to have any vulnerabilities or character development or qualities of interest!" Then fandom will fall at your feet!

I could in theory make this a fic where she patches up their broken relationship for them instead of sleeping with one of them and so on, but that's not the story I'm telling, fuck you fandom! FUCK YOU.

So, she's going to exhibit personal flaws and sleep with one of the guys in a popular m/m pairing in the same fic? Yeah, I think "Fuck you fandom!" is the best attitude to take. Because to write strong and empowered female characters, one is apparently obliged to write women who are simultaneously generic, implausibly flawless, and completely undemanding.

Yup. In all the fics I've written about this pairing, there's always the past-tense or the breaking up of the popular ship, because in my fanon they definitely have been together at some point. I just don't think they can STAND each other any more.

At any rate, I am happy with this character. I just think that everyone else involved in this fic challenge is going to want my head on a plate.
