I'm going to New York for Halloween/my birthday.

Because I can, okay?

College v. shouty today, involved maths, threatening to injure people who gave bullshit explanations for plate tectonics, eating quite a lot, recording fail, introducing gangsta rappers to chap-hop (verdict: they fucking loved it), the potential for a hysterically funny bit of paid work, and perpetuating the most epic real-life troll on a classmate - it lasted all afternoon. Also, time in bar discussing how to make vocals sound less nasal and ways to compensate for the erratic behaviour of MIDI theramins, because Nerds. And the coining of the term "Epi-fanny".

Went to BFI bar briefly; winter cocktails are gone so it's officially spring, and the Canadian Margarita has made a welcome return.

Gig: Maud & I are the first people in the theatre and use the time to discuss the lighting rig and acoustic properities of the room, because a) Nerds and b) they really were very interesting. Ended up waffling about standing waves. I have an itch to get in the control booth there. It's like a POD. You go up a LADDER.

Support band were, um, well. As Maud put it "a pleasant noise". Unfortunately for my sense of aesthetics the lovely-pianist cannot write lyrics for shit and so far NO ONE HAS TOLD HER THIS. Occasionally gritted teeth employed and deliberate focussing on cellists.

Emmy the extremely great, sobbed like a weenie in places, fuck you I have cissy girl feelings about music. Such an excellent performance, even when her guitar strap broke ("We're now MORE in tune than we were -") and also I forgot that one of the many pleasures of knowing glowering is that she knows EVERYONE - this mattered a little less when I met Him Who Used To Be In The Libertines because my exposure to Yeti had been limited, but shaking the hand of greatness was a lovely conclusion to the evening. EEEEE. EMMY. <3 New album sounds like it will be l'maze, too.

ION I was going to type up class notes and some porn (I still can't work out where the stresses are in "stelliforous" so no more poetry) but I feel like freeze-dried ass and will instead wobble off to bed shortly.

sounds like a riot, because things fall out of my ear, social, music, college
