I love the way it starts familiar (I like your Rose, btw) and you come up suddenly against the screaming discontuity of John Hart (or, like me, you miss it at first and only realise at the knife-in-the-gut that something's very wrong), and how it builds from there. The way John almost pulls it off, but can't stop himself from being a little bit smug. He's very much John throughout, and I'm looking forwards to the next part.

*g* When I can get a handle on how the next part goes I will be very pleased to start writing it.

You killed Rose.

Thankyou. Er, will that make me unpopular? Don't care. Thank you for John Hart being a b'Stard and filling up the cosmos in time and space with his crimes. The style of prose is fresh and clean too, with the events and imagery between the words rather than compound and interwoven... or did you just write this in tattooooo aftermath...?

I *edited* this, I think that's what makes the difference - I did a very sparse first draft and then added a lot in afterwards.

Ahhhhh, yesssssssss. This is exactly what I wanted from the Torchwood fandom before I dumped it when it threw endless samey safe Jack/Ianto coffee!metaphor fic at me. This is brutal and tight and I'm very much looking forward to the rest. :D

(Also, here's an unpopular fandom opinion of mine: I freakin' hate fic warnings. The blurb on the back of a book doesn't warn me that a character will die, it's a bloody spoiler! I don't want to know in advance! But there would be such an uproar if one dared to skip the warning and lured all those fluffy-wuffy fic-readers into a VILE PIT OF SIN AND GORE. But then again I like a lot of violence in my fiction.)

I think that if something is written well I will tolerate anything. Literally anything, even if anyone else writing it would fuck with my squick settings something chronic; Neil Gaiman's narrative poem Eaten: Scenes from a moving picture might have been put down without finishing if someone else had been writing it, but I trust him and I like his style. Likewise, it rarely matters what the content or genre of the piece is, if Stephen King's writing it I'm going to be bored and annoyed.

Really, the fic warnings I want - which are probably not realistic to ask for - are stuff like:

Massively OOC.
Author's style is irritating.
Author could not write if their life depended on it.
Unsatisfactory ending.
NO PLOT.
Ridiculously long for no reason.
Author has no concept of actual dialogue.
Author has no concept of human anatomy.
Full-on badfic.
Babytalk.

:D
