Radio Ginger, Episode 3, 12th October 2012

Oct 15, 2012 10:10

Here's the third episode of Ginger Wildheart's radio show.  Obviously we were out on Friday, when the show is aired, but I made the discovery that you can set Audacity to record at a certain time of day, and for any given length of time.  High fives for technology!

When we got home from Friday's gig, I listened back to the show, and I was thinking "What the heck is this song?  Dad played this all the time when I was a kid!"  I was sure it was Clannad, but the Shazam app informed me that it was in fact Arrival by Abba.  Yep, Ginger actually went there.

Please note, there is a section of this show (when the Hawkeyes song is played) when there are two songs playing at once - that's not my error, that's technical difficulties at the radio station!

Playlist:

Abba - Arrival
Apollo 440 - Stop the Rock
Grandaddy - Now it’s On
LeFaro - Boke
Eddie Spaghetti - Jesus Never Lived on Mars
Hawkeyes - Kiss This
Joey Ramone/Joan Jett - Party Line
Crowded House - Locked Out
Flo & Eddie - Rebecca
The Damned - Anti Pope
Kirsty MacColl - A New England
Ash - A Life Less Ordinary
Propellorheads - Bang On
Queens of the Stone Age - In My Head
Veruca Salt - Perfect Love
The Fratellis - Baby Fratelli
The Go! Team -
Kiss - Back to the Stone Age
The Flaming Lips - The Guy Who Got a Headache and Accidentally Saved the World
The Pixies - Veloria
The Streets - Hold it Down Boy
Turbonegro - You Give me Worms
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero
The Futureheads - Decent Days and Nights

The new Turbonegro singer sounded pretty decent, actually.  Ginger said he was going to play the new Gallows stuff as soon as he gets a CD, so I tweeted him and said that if he's gonna play Gallows minus Frank Carter, he should also play Frank Carter's new band, Pure Love.

Although I have a few Supersuckers albums, I hadn't heard Eddie Spaghetti's solo stuff before, and the track that Ginger played had a very pleasing country sound, so that's something I'll definitely be investigating further.
