It seems that I am destined to die by way of being hit by a car while talking on my cell phone (not a good combination). Last week, Megs and I went shopping. We were walking towards the mall in the parking lot. Both of us were engrossed in some interesting voicemails we had recieved. We crossed the road (and I remember for certain there was no cars anywhere). All of a sudden, this white Caddy comes tearing (definitely speeding) out of nowhere, missing us by inches. The car didn't even have the decency to stop, even though we were almost the whole way across. In fact, the car (I'm positive I saw a little old lady in there) swerved in the opposite lane, in front of us, while she could have easily stayed in her lane and driven behind us. It was as if she had to make a point that she had no intent of stopping and wanted to scare the shit out of us. She succeeded, but, neither of us got off the phone ;)
In this week's incident, I run into Matt P. (Matty). We were walking to class together while I was on the phone with my boss from the golf course. After I got off, Matt yelled at me, exclaiming that I was paying no attention and almost got hit 4 times by cars. Apparently, he had been protecting me. When I think about it, I do recall him going out in front of me, stopping cars, grabbing my arm to stop me from walking out in traffic, etc.
Oh yeah, I almost got hit another time by a car when I was on my cell last year. It was a van, who blared it's horn at me as it barely missed me. Oops?
