Robin sat in his infirmary bed, propped up by pillows, and breathed into his oxygen mask while glaring a hole in the wall. He'd been more or less stuck here since the incident in the airlock two days ago. He was still in pain, and vulnerable, and unable to do anything useful. It sucked, and he hated it, but he deserved all of it because it was entirely his fault.

He knew exactly what had happened to him. He and James May had gone out on a little jaunt around Icelus, and their spacesuits had become lightly dusted with ammonia ice, and because he hadn't used the DE-ICE button before entering the airlock (honestly, what did he think that button was for?!), when the warm, pressurized air had come flooding in, the ammonia ice had evaporated, and when he had removed his suit, he'd been exposed. They'd been lucky, really. It had been a relatively small amount of ammonia ice, and James May had been slow removing his suit and had avoided exposure. They both could've been injured, they both could've been killed. As it was, Robin's eyes, nasal passages, throat, and lungs had been badly burned, he'd been incapacitated and forced to remove his mask, and the colony had lost a sizeable portion of its oxygen. And it all could've been avoided. He should've known better.

Isis had told him everything he needed to know. He had looked at the fact sheet, could remember where it had said 'Surface composition: primarily water ice, with ammonia, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and methane ices also present.' The moment he'd smelled the ammonia he knew exactly what he had done, but by then it was too late. Because he'd been distracted and careless. Because he forgot that one vital piece of information. Because he made a mistake.

Robin growled, thrusting the oxygen tank away from him angrily. He continued to glare at the wall, focusing all of his self-loathing on one panel of white plastic. Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid, he'd been stupid!!! This was unacceptable. Mistakes were unacceptable. He'd failed.
