class reunion
So I did it, I broke down and went to my class reunion. I had 4 days off this week. I requested friday, saturday, and sunday off, and they threw in thursday as well. Thursday I didn't do much at all. Friday was the meet and greet for my reunion but I didn't go, instead I went to the derby.
We got up friday morning and I went to the local CAP office for a picture of all the local stylists from companies that donated free haircuts for back to school for the underprivelidged. My shop in town is the highest donator of the area and so my employer wanted anyone who wasn't working to show up for the photo shoot. I got there and my General Manager was there and 2 girls from the other Great Clips salon in town (owned by the same people) but I was the only one to show from MY SHOP!! I was so ticked about that. Afterwards my mom and I stopped and got some snack foods to take to the Clark County fair for the derbies. We went home and packed lunch and we hit the road for the derbies.
The first one was at 2:00 pm and my cousin Sherry was driving. She won best looking car and took 3rd place in the first heat, but failed to place in the final demolition when she blew out the transmission in her car. She was pretty ticked about that. We had our lunch though and I bought a bracelet for my son to go on rides to kill time before the next derby.
The second one took place at 7:30 pm and Sherry drove her other car in the derby, along with my other cousin Dustin. Neither one of them won best looking car this time around and during the first heat Sherry was hit pretty hard on the drivers side of her car and sustained an injury. They stopped the derby and they quickly looked her over and she gave the okay to finish the derby, but she didn't place. The second heat, Dustin drove, but was quickly wedged up on a log and unable to move his car. Then came time for the final demolition. Apparently during the first heat Sherry sustained a concussion and so they would not clear her to drive in the final so her husband took her place. We were all unaware that he was driving though and were rather surprised at her agressive behavior on the track. It got down to the two of them and Sherry's car took second place (w/ Chad driving her car) and Dustin came in first place!!! His first time getting that rank in a derby!! It was awesome and he won $1500.
Apparently I really missed out on the meet and greet for my class reunion that night as I quickly found out Saturday night that one of my classmates was ARRESTED!!! The actual reunion went pretty well, got to catch up with a few good friends from school and a couple of not so good friends. I actually had one guy come up to me and apologize for being so mean to me when we were younger. It kind of caught me off guard but I told him not to worry about it, because I don't even remember it (which I don't). The turnout was surprisingly small. They provided snack foods and 2 kegs of beer which we barely even tapped the second keg before we left at midnight and we were even giving the beer away to people who just happened to be at the bar. At midnight we left the free beer and went to another bar where everyone had to pay for drinks because I guess they just decided it was more exciting there. I stayed till about 1 am and went home.
Today we had a picnic at the park for families and only a few of us showed up, but it was still fun.
In other good news, the boyfriend may be coming for another visit. Possibly at the end of this month he is scheduled to work here in washington for about 3 weeks. If he gets to come up here as scheduled (which he says he is going to beg his boss tomorrow) he will be coming to visit me on the weekends. yay!!!
