Normally, he would not venture this far outside the wall. It is very suspicious; the hobbling, mean doctor packing a small lunch (and apples, he takes an apple, though he leaves the rest out for others to find again) and, armed with his cane and his surly demeanor, begins to leave the building.

He is a man with rare intent.

He wants to know the truth.

Unfortunately, the only direct way to find it is to go to the source.

It was not hard, really, to come to this decision; it was the math. Simple addition.

She is young. He is old. Point for Cameron. She is brilliant, he is more so. Point to House. She is better adjusted, he is entrenched in old bitterness and anger. Point to Cameron. She is well-meaning, he is simply curious. Point to Cameron. She loves, he does not. Point to Cameron. She has a future, he has regret. Point to Cameron. She still loves him, he... he owes her this much.

Point to House.

He walks, face a blank, and some part of him asks; would you do this for Foreman? For Chase? For Cuddy? For Wilson? He does not question himself overmuch; he knows everybody lies. Gregory House is no different.

He waits, and wonders if he is anywhere near the vampire's hunting grounds.

Only time will tell.
