A black hole appeared in the air, and Iroh stepped through a portal from somewhere windy and high, and into the Common Area.

Everyone knew Iroh the Warrior, Iroh the Master, and especially Iroh the Friendly Uncle.

Today they would meet Iroh, the General, the Dragon of the West.

"Everyone, attention!" Any soldiers in the room might not be able to resiste the urge to stand at attention and salute.

He's got Munch's full attention. They may be from different worlds and Munch may be newly arrived, but he recognizes a soldier when he sees one.

He's quite right. Spoon doesn't even remember his knees straightening or his arm coming up, palm out. That just happened.

(Although he does notice Blink hasn't come through the portal herself.)

Hamel doesn't salute, but he does flick the brim of his hat in something that might, possibly, if you look at it sideways and squint... be seen as a sign of recognition and respect.

"Feh."

He's pissed, he's impatient...

Did we mention he's pissed?

"Got some news, Grandpa?"

He knows it isn't good news.

A ten count after Iroh comes out of the vertigo-inducing portal of void, and it collapses on itself, folding up with a sound somewhere in between a squish and a metal-bending screech.

Tim was staring at the void more the Iroh, but he does stand up, trying to look like he's at attention. Or, just paying attention.

Tom's a bit nosy about these sort of things. So he's looking up-alert and tense. Who is this guy?

Don't focus on that-just keep your eye on the prize.

There had been a death.
And in a tightknit community that wasn't tolerated. As far as Tom was concerned-this was going to be a substitute for homestead.

And this sort of thing wouldn't be tolerated there.

She heard in the old man's voice the command tone she knew John would be able to some day give. While she's in paramilitary gear, she's no soldier. But she turns to watch him and she pays close attention.

Hotaru stands straight and still, but for all intents and purposes Tomoe Hotaru is gone for now. Even though she doesn't reflect it physically, in mind and spirit she has become Sailor Saturn.

The Magog have drawn first blood. There will be a battle soon; there's no doubt about that.

One way or another, Saturn will be joining the battle.

Iroh looked upon the assembled.

"There has been another attack, and this time, we have lost one of our own, a young man by the name of Ron Weasley," Iroh said, in a commanding voice. "There will be time to mourn, and to pay him the proper respects, but in the meantime, there is much that must be done. I have checked and there are no attackers outside, but that does not mean they will not come."

The man seemed far harsher-looking than he'd been before, and far, far older. There was a reason for this.

"Those of you that are new will be explained your situation by those who have resided here for longer, and will be explained what duties we need you to do--and that you must do yourselves for our mutual survival."

"And where's Zuko, then?"

Because that was who he'd come to respect, if that could be the term for it. Zuko had his respect, Spoon... well, it was something close to caring, though nothing nearly that mushy, and Johnny had his trust.

Jim shows up through one of the portals. He quickly finds a place to sit and listen.

I stick to the corner, to the shadows, somewhat, but I will offer whatever aid I can give. I could only hope someone would avenge my own death such.

It was Mel that Iroh looked at as he said, "I have searched the entire building for my nephew and have no found him."

A deep breath. "The only explanation is that he has been captured."

"...He has been."

Not that Sokka looks at all happy about bringing the information in, just now entering the room with a grave look on his face.

"There's tracks outside by the gate - Zuko's and Magog."
