Summary: Character profile for Italo-Norman population/Italo-Normanni..
Population Normannia
Extra note:
For who's interested to know...
*sigh*, I'm back on making up a name in Roman style for this little guy that represent the Norman mercenaries that came in Italy and lived here and not the territory over which they lived or a their political government. I thought quite a bit at it but using Normandia wouldn't have been fitting as this little guy conqueered south Italy for himself, not for Normandy and not only his land kept switching name the more it expanded but calling him just Sicily would have created only confusion as he's not Sicily/south Italy, though I guess he might have used that name in official matters... as well as the ones he had previously... (Anversa, Puglia, Puglia & Calabria...) Consider him Romano's best boss (and possibly/likely his favourite).
And yes, the flag is supposed to be the one of the kingdom of Sicily at that time.
Note that in my headcanon this guy represents the Italo-Normans from when they first moved in Italy as mercenaries but instead than disappearing when Guillelmus II, the last of the Norman kings died, he managed to survive till Manfredus died, due to him and his father Fridericus II having some Norman blood in them and being somewhat closer to his spirit than the one of HRE. With Manfredus' death however he too will slowly start to fade.
Normannia's human name is Rogerius/Roger (like his boss Rogerius I de Altavilla/Roger I de Hauteville) Viscardus/Wiscard (Robertus de Altavilla's nickname "Guiscardus" or "Viscardus" dal tedesco Wiscard (the smart one) which will later become a real Italian surname (Guiscardi or Viscardi) owned by Italians that are descendants of the Normans, among which there's also the mother of Saint Rosalia).
The quote at the end of the profile is in Latin and is supposed to mean:
"Che ciascuno preghi il Dio ch'egli adora! Chi avrà fede nel suo Dio, sentirà la pace in cuore!"
"Let everyone pray to the God he loves it! Who will have faith in his God, he will feel peace in my heart!"
Honestly I'm not sure it's 100% correct as I couldn't find the original Latin quote so I've to translate it from Italian to Latin...
