Population Etruria
Extra note:
For who's interested to know...
Of course there's a lot more to say about Etruria... but I didn't have that much space... ^_-
Though I called her Etruria she represents the Etruscan people and not the territory over which they lived or a their political government. Etruscans apparently called themselves Rasenna or Rasna or Ras'na or Rasnakh (ancient Greeks would call them Tyrsenoi (Tyrrhenia)) so this should have been her true name... however as it would have probably made no sense for whoever isn't an Etruscan expert I've also left the name the Romans gave to her land.
Little remain of the Etruscan language but it seems they called their political structure, a league of 12 city-states as 'Mechl Rasnal' (Etruscan League). In Latin it would be 'Duodecim Populi Etruriae' (twelve peoples of Etruria). The head of the league was called 'Zilath Mechl Rasnal' and held the office for one year. The name of the ruler of a city was 'laukum' ('lucumo' in Latin), a sacral monarch.
The Etruscans didn't have a flag. I used it as 'flag' the back of one of their coins. The coin in question was produced at Volsinii (Etruria's capital) and shows a bull crowned by bird with wreath in beak; in front, star. Mark of value XX. ΙΠΑΠCLEF in Etruscan characters. If you're curious on the front there was the head of a young male head bound with wreath. As of now there's only one copy of this coin.
If you ask me Etruria's human name is Hinthial Nurthial Rasnana.
An Etruscan name was formed by the praenomen, the given name, which in her case is Hinthial a real Etruscan name which means 'shadow', 'ghost', or 'apparition', as well as 'reflection' (on water, in a mirror), it was allegedly 'one of the most intriguing and important words in Etruscan', possibly meaning 'the shadow of Helen', the legendary Trojan beauty, the patronymic or matronymic, and for her I picked up Nurthial, which means daughter of Nurthia, the Godness of fate and health, and by a nomen gentile, or family name that in my headcanon for her is Rasnana (meaning 'member of the Etruscan family'). Note that Nurthial and Rasnana aren’t matronymic and nomen gentile used in Etruscan times but as Etruria is a pretty special Etruscan she picked up a pretty special matronymic and nomen gentile.
The quote is in Etruscan and is supposed to mean "Could the years be for you like the stars in the sky"
