All the Hearts: 12-20 Edition
My Pirates are off to a less-than-hot start this year, with a 12-20 record so far that puts them just slightly over the Cubs. Some of it's awful luck, some of it's sloppy play, none of it's the end of the world, but apparently it's all the cue for the fandom at large to become incredibly obnoxious and hateful and histrionic.
Toxic and whiny and incapable of appreciating the good stuff is no way to go through a baseball season. 9.5 games back or not, I fucking love this team! So much, that I believe a picspam is in order:

Starling Marte had been in a terrible slump, leading the league in strike-outs at one point, but he's looked better buried a little deeper in the lineup, where I've hoped to see him for a while. This weekend, he hit a walk-off homerun!
And lots of hugging ensued! ♥♥♥ All the hugs for Starling Marte!
Pedro - who's hitting for good power and making some very pretty defensive plays at third lately - had knocked in the tying run just before Marte came to bat.
Look at that rain! A cinematographer couldn't have designed it better! Even better: the downpour lasted basically only for the duration of his at-bat and this hit brought in the game's winning run. A pretty fucking epic three-minutes of baseball in May!
Neil has looked good at the plate recently - from both sides, even! - hitting a surprising number of homers and making opposing pitchers burn through lots of pitches even if he ultimately strikes out.
Tony Sanchez - who's walking up to "Let It Go" this season, because: dork - has had some throwing errors, but he's also had some timely hits (hence, everyone's wooling on him here) and is picking up some valuable playing time/experience, considering he'll be the everyday backstop after Martin almost certainly leaves in free-agency this winter.
And here is reigning National League MVP Andrew McCutchen shooing some ducks out of the outfield during last night's super-weird game.
He also remains rather good at playing baseball, and kind of a joy to watch sometimes.
