Yuletide recs: Madness Edition

Dec 30, 2013 11:52

I haven't read all the Yuletide fic I want to - lots of longer stories and fandoms where I'm not caught up with the latest installment of canon are marked for later - but I've probably read all I'll manage before reveals.  I'll have a post of recs from the main collection later, but here are some gems I've found in the Madness collection:

Beat - District X.  This is my gift, and I've squee'd about it previously, but rest assured that this will not stop me from saying again how wonderful and everything I could want out of this fandom this piece is, with its slice-of-life in the (occasionally extraordinary) neighborhood.

Hold Fast - Fast and Furious franchise. I really appreciated the warmth and obvious affection of this scene, set post-F&F6, in which Dom and Letty talk about their scars and history and future.

A Wisdom to Offer - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, 12thC Historical RPF.  I confess to not knowing the historical figures in the RPF fandom, but I love me some Wowbagger, the Infinitely Prolonged, and this piece does a really nice job with the tone of the Douglas Adams canon, echoing the "The Private Life of Genghis Khan".

Drabbles

Pulse of the City - Anthropomorphized Cities, the City of London tells her own story

Investigation - IKEA Gnome commercial, little details hint at a just-missed battlescene

Hit the Ground Running - The Killing, Bullet alight in the Seattle night

Revenge - Sports Night, what would have become a running gag if twitter had been a thing during the show's run

fic, yuletide
