I think I'm in denial

I should be doing any number of productive things, but here I am, on a borrowed laptop and avoiding my problems.

Me and my shitty laptop (like all my other shitty possessions) have had a deal for a while. Just stay alive. Just a little longer till I can find a better you.

But it welched on the deal today.

Aw, April, I'm sorry your laptop went wonky on you! For what it's worth, my laptop died over a year ago, and just as I was about to get a new one, I ended up getting a netbook as a gift. I thought I'd end up returning it, because I used my laptop ALL the time, and wasn't convinced a netbook could do the trick- but it did! It has been MILES better than my laptop, because I only have what I need on it- Word, itunes, internet, and that's about it.

Here's the one I have, and it can be bought refurbished for around $240:

I haven't had a single problem with it in 1 1/2 years, and that's a new experience for me when it comes to laptops! Anyway, hope that helps. And if not, hope your laptop finds a way to hold on a bit longer! Good luck!

I'll look into a netbook if I can't get my poor laptop to last a bit longer.

If they can handle audio editing and recording, they'd be fine (I was working on a new cd with my pro-tools knoockoff).

I'm just so annoyed right now. I didn't need more problems with summer coming (along with possible wedding gigs).

It sounds to me like a problem with the power adapter. The adapter is intermittent and the battery is not charged. If you replace it (I replaced mine with a Rocketfish brand a few years ago) it should be good to go. :)

I do have a universal adapter on this. It's my third on this laptop. I am going to try that, in store (hopefully). Honestly, I know that the adapter was being a bitch on this and actually a lot of this was caused by my adapter going bad. I was at the point where I have to angle it certain ways to get`it to charge.

I hope a new one solves it. But my big worry is that`there is other damage done. That me working with this failing adapter has done some irreparable damage to the mysterious motherboard (the replacing of which costs more than a new laptop).

Hopefully, a new adapter works. If not... I'll freak out harder.

Thanks, Monica. It's a terrible annoyance. Not the end of the world, but a complication I don't need right now.

It really isn't the same. This one has hardly been used (though my uncle must have bought it over five years ago) and has nothing I want. Plus I have all my gigs on Microsoft works Calendar and now I've no idea (except vaguely) where I sing next. I might have to call people up and ask, which seems so stupid.

I do back up certain files, but not everything. Some things are trapped within programs I don't have now.

I had the same problem with my laptop, twisting the adapter this way and that to get a charge.

A hard drive enclosure (that exists?) might work. I mean, I might not get`the programs running, but maybe some files.

At any rate, this is an annoying hindrance this month. I'll be over it soon, but I hate it right now.
