Happenings.

My computer is broken and won't turn on. My car was broken and mysteriously shut off. I even managed to break the key off in the ignition of my dad's car this evening. On top of that, I got a ticket in Park City just a few blocks from where the officer finished his route for the day.

If I hadn't had a great couple of days in Park City scheming my way into events and listening to Dan Wilson (Semisonic) John(ny) Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls) and Rachael Yamagata, I wouldn't be dealing with it all very well. Even those events weren't without incident however. The ASCAP Nazi© was full of double standards, like allowing people to stand in the aisle, but repeatedly telling me that I was in the aisle as I was trying to avoid doing so. My favorite was her telling me that I, "really shouldn't be standing here. It's press only"  after she pestered me to stand there to get out of the damned aisle. She also added that "there are no spots up front"  at least twice to me before stopping me on the second occasion, only to allow the very next person that came along to keep going after saying, 'there really aren't that many places up front, but you can try."

I recognized the ASCAP Nazi© from my high school. I'd seen her working concessions at a play at my school years after I graduated. I couldn't figure out who she was until I saw her credential and put the last name with the student. I can't say anything bad about her daughter (though the only thing she ever said to me was quite jarring) but based solely on today, I can't stand her mother.

This turned out to be longer than I'd thought. I'd originally only planned to post the first paragraph and the first line of the next.

More stories shall surely follow in the next few days. I'll be up in Park City more than likely on Wednesday night for the free Fairuza Balk hosted Eliza Wren show and Friday afternoon, assuming I can sweet talk the artist that I want to see up there into getting me in when I see her on Thursday night at Kilby.
