The Year In Review

Dec 30, 2005 17:33

I did this last year (Posted on December 21, 2004) and thought it would be fun to do again, just to record my thoughts and see if anything much has changed. Apparently, not too much has...

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Gotten into a fist fight, owned my own car, and went to the Blarney Stone.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I vowed to go to the gym. Instead, I just paid the dues for most of the year. But I resolve to go more in the new year...

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No babies this year, but there are some people I know who have come down with the Egyptian Flu, so this answer will be different next year I am sure.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Luckily, not this year.

5. What countries did you visit?
Rye and I went to Seattle in October, and Kelly and I went in May.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
More money so that I can travel. More time to spend with my friends. A stable home life.

7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 16 - the day I fought my sister and she ran away from home, but not because I fought her. May 17 - My parents' 25th anniversary. July 16 - Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. September 2 - Got my nose pierced. October 16 - The day my car became mine. November 1 - the day my sister ran away from home for the second time. November 18 - Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. December (various) - Grandpa cleared of lymphoma, my sister coming home, Aidan Chrone's free, Modern Republic making HUGE strides in the local music scene, and getting my promise ring from Rye on Christmas.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting through on some level to my sister when she ran away the second time. And that I managed not to fall completely apart through all the shit that happened in my family this year.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting my sister home sooner. Not fixing everything.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nah, Nick had the market cornered on this one.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My laptop! And my new, sexy bedding set.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
All of my friends'. They were all there for me this year, and they kept me sane. Thank you.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled?
Again, my sister's. I still can't believe she did what she did this year.

14. Where did most of your money go?
School and other bills.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
All things Harry Potter.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2005?
My Hump by the Black Eyed Peas. Most things by The Gorillaz. Other really random stuff.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
- i. happier or sadder? I am not really sure. I actually think sadder.
- ii. thinner or fatter? The same, less 10 pounds.
- iii. richer or poorer? Richer, now that I have changed banks.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Travelling.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Eating junk food... Oh never mind, I loved every bit of it.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent all day Christmas day at home with my family. Christmas Eve was with Rye's mom, and Boxing Day was with Keith.

21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
A three-way tie this year between Kelly, Tamara, and Aidan.

None. I am a-feared of people from the interweb.

None

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Crossing Jordan. However, I also enjoyed Medium, Miami Ink, and most things found on A&E and TLC.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
My sister's ex, Dan. I want to stab him in the face. Tam's ex Mike. Last year, I just disliked him, now, I am pretty sure it is hate. Honestly! Who throws a cob of mouldy corn?!

26. What was the best book you read?
Incendiary, Enchanted Inc., The Psycho Ex Game, Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince, and I am currently enjoying Wicked.

A laptop and Mario Party 7! Oh, and the pool.

29. What did you want and not get?
I wanted my parents to go away for two weeks to celebrate their anniversary in Hawaii.

Comfort and bright colours.

34. What kept you sane?
My friends, cigarettes, and coffee.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ewan McGregor.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
That Stephen Harper kept harping about the sponsorship scandal, not realizing that more money was spent on investigating it than was lost in the scandal itself.

37. Who did you miss?
Matt and Ayren. Yay! They are back in my life!

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Erin from school. She is a hot babe with the ability to have intelligent conversation and she makes me laugh.

Life ain't stardust and fireflies.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
