A useful link for anyone wondering how to register for Nicovideo: here.
I'm sure anyone could have found it anyway (there's more than one site advising people on how to register), but that one looked good. It really is a great site, for MADs or for the parody stuff (really... there's an entire tag for PoT caramelldansen parodies, amongst other things). Pretty amazing artists/movie creators...
I also like it more in comparison to YouTube, even if there's very little likelihood of English subs and even if I have to constantly find the characters for things to use the search feature. The quality's (seems to be, at least) higher, and the atmosphere's just... nicer. Due to the comment system, nobody really flames anyone else (or whatever goes on in the YouTube comments...): all the comments are anonymous, and the majority of the comments are focused on the video and not on calling the commenter above stupid.
Maybe it's because I'm not so good at interacting with people directly (or dislike it in an environment like YouTube), but I personally prefer it that way. Huh. (And it is somewhat reassuring when I find something strange amusing and the vast amount of 'w's scrolling across the screen shows that at least I'm not alone).
