There was a different quality to the air outside, and it wasn't just the absence of the stench of rotting food. Where the air should've been fresher, it somehow seemed more stagnant. Dead. It was like the air sealed up in a tomb and cut off from the living world.
That was exactly what it was like.
Not that Naoto had ever been in a tomb, even if the deep scars across her chest should've put her in one. The will to live is strong, and it makes a person strong. Maybe that's why she was unwilling to just sit inside the building even when it's impossible to seal away the dangers outside it.
"It'll be nice to stretch our legs." Naoto glanced over at her companions, the catboy and the blind priest. It almost sounded like a bad joke, but her sense of humor isn't that great to begin with. Her sense of direction is another story. "It's this way." It felt weird to be in front. Naoto was used to walking behind someone. Following...stalking. But it felt good to at least be moving. It gave her a sense of normalcy. At least she was searching for something again.
She was quiet as they started out, wondering about the unknown. It didn't really bother her for her own sake. Naoto would do her best to adapt and hold her own against anything that they came across. But what about Butterfly? And Bishop. Well...not so much Bishop. He had his cane after all. She kept silent about the fact that she actually knew, and had known since the first time they met in that church. Back then she'd masked it as surprise that he was blind. It was good that Butterfly was between them, just in case.
That and...well, Bishop might try to sneak a ribbon into her hair.
