There are tears in Ariel's eyes as she hits the ocean. She should never have bought into the human world. She should never have bought into his lies. Worse, she knows Eric knows right where to find her, and she knows too, that when he finds her, she will succumb as she always has. She will fall into his eyes, fall into his arms, and weeping, forgive him of everything. She always has; she always will. She must escape!
She swims with strength, pushing through the waters and plunging as deep and fast as she can go. "Ariel!" Flounder cries, seeing her. Her little friend tries to reach her, but she swims on pass Flounder, pass Sebastian, pass the castle that used to be her home, pass Scuttle's rock. She swims, no longer able to see where she's going just striving to put as much distance between herself and her husband as she can.
It's only when she stops that she feels her father's arms around her. It's only while sobbing in his strong, comforting embrace that she realizes the entire kingdom has followed her. "I have waited for this moment," King Triton announces, kissing her head. "Atlantis moves now."
