are e/b fans that delusional about j/b sometimes?

So today in my self-defense class, our instructor told one of the students that she went to see the twilight movie with lots of freshman girls, who are all Edward fans. Go figure, right? Anyways I make a comment that I was Team Jacob. We talked about the creepiness of Edward and how all his antics were made okay because he was vampire. If he was a regular guy, then he would have been branded a stalker, but since he's a vampire, it's "romantic". So my instructor asked if the series was a love triangle. The student, who is team Edward, replied no, and said something along the lines that Bella loves Edward and Edward loves Bella, and Jake and Bella are best friends, with the fact that only Jake is in love with Bella. I made the comment that Bella is also in love with Jake, so it is a love triangle. The student vehemently denied it, saying that Bella is never in love with Jake, that they are just best friends with only a one-sided love from Jake and she is 100% percent sure of that fact. In my mind, I was like 'Huh? What are you talking about? Bella is in love with Jake, but because Bella is blinded by being in love with Edward that she never realizes her love for Jake until the end of Eclipse.' She went on to say something like 'I read the books 6 times, and I know for a fact that Bella is not in love with Jake.' I'm like 'But it was stated in Eclipse and also the Smeyer FAQ, which she said she had also read, that Bella is in love with Jake. How could someone miss the fact that Bella is also in love with Jake? Are E/B fans that delusional or in denial about the fact that Bella is also in love with Jake that they can just ignore it or pretend it is not real?
