FFXII Icons: All Hail Baschilles!!

Jan 28, 2008 09:25

So... instead of writing fics. I've joined the  ff_eye_candy  icontest instead. Because I could hardly resist when I saw the theme that week. Well, that, and I was on a icon making spree at the moment. I mean, seriously, first, I made a claim for Basch/Ashe at iconfiend100, then I went on to ffxii_arcana, and claimed XII: The Hanged Man Vossler for icon. A bit crazy on my part, don't ( Read more... )

That? That is so awesome. But Basch is not Achilles, I hate Achilles! TOO WHINY. The dude complains and complains and COMPLAINS about Agamemnon's leadership and sits on his ass forever while everyone else is dying. Basch is clearly Hector, a truly honorable and awesome man who ends up getting dragged behind a bloody chariot because The Iliad sucks.

Or I could just leave it at "This is so awesome." Because it is ;)

I agree, if only because I think Eric Bana >>>> Brad Pitt.

You have no idea how badly I wanted to use that Eric Bana!Hector body shown in your icon as Basch's body for this contest earlier XD But no, I can't find an image of it with good resolution, so I have to work with Achiless instead T__T

Eric Bana >>>> Brad Pitt.
That's a statement, not an opinion! 8D Why else do you think I didn't threw the popcorn at screen when I watched Troy :/

Nope! Basch is not the whiny, lazy Achilles, I agree wholeheartedly to it :D And clearly, honourable Hector is a much better choice but....! I had to make do with Achilles body as I couldn't find a Hector one that I could work with. Where the devil are Hector's pictures? The stupid internet is devoid of it! T__T

*cough* Sorry, been trying to get that off my chest for a while :P Also, thank you for your comment ;) You should try it out some time, I assure you that you'll be tearing your hair mid-way but you'll be so satisfied with the end results as well XD

Me too! They look so awesome but I don't have the patience or the skills ;_;

Thank you for commenting XD

Patience and skills? I have neither, more like I'm stubborn as a bull and possessed some shred of luck the night that I made them X3 Working on your favourite character while swooning does help a lot too XD

Thank you :) Actually, I wanted to use Selective Colours instead, but the colours of the original Basch image was too bland and monochrome, and there's nothing much I could do to fix it. In the end, I tried using Colour Filling instead and luckily, it worked, better than I could have hoped for XD

Oh~~~~ pssst... I've got a whole folder of photo manips that will never ever see the light of day. It's so terrible and yet, I'm not willing to get rid of it because I laboured too many nights over it, and somehow, now, it has some sentimental values X3

Actually, your Snow Vayne icon inspired me :P If I do happen to create a Vayne in ballet tutu photo manip, would you like to have it? XD

Haha, go you on the win. And truly, I do love the Beowulf ones.

Actually I like the idea of combining FF with mythology.

Heh, anyone ever do a Basch as Leonidas from 300? Or is that just way too overdone? Then again, there isn't really that much sharp, clean footage of Basch with the beard before he shaves it off in Rabanastre.

Thank you :) To be honest, I've been showing off naked Basch to everyone that's willing (or unwilling?) to see 8D But it's quite fun to combine FF characters with mythological figures, as it's quite plain to see that Square Enix have a tendency to lift ideas from mythology and history :3

Basch as Leonidas? I'm afraid that I have yet to watch 300 yet, which is why I didn't think of it :P But it's not hard to get a better footage of Basch with a beard, as I do have screencaping programs, and I have the clips of those scenes as well :D

You are welcome :) But, I still feel very foolish for leaving out one step in the tutorial, I never did manage to figure out what the devil did I do back then =.=

Wow! Great icons and great tutorial!

I really like the Ashe as Isis icon. And Beowulf Basch is so very yummy. XD

Hehe... thanks for comment XD I would have called it Ashepatra: Queen of Denial (or whatever silly name that I could come up with :3), but obviously, Cleopatra ain't no mythological figure. So, erm, the only other few egyptian goddess that I'm familiar with is Isis :P (Also, the texture behind her is actually the Dead Sea Scrolls... I'm such a geek! X3)

Of course, Basch-Beowulf is really delicious to look at, makes the trouble and labour so much more easier to bear XD (If it were Vaan, I'd probably spurt blood mid-way through the iconing process :P)

And pray tell where are you? I want to fangirl about Noah/Pen with you at AIM again!!!!
