(I couldn't believe how hard it was to find a 2-piece flannel set this year!),

Microfleece seems to have replaced everything, which is annoying to both me (I prefer flannel) and L (who prefers cotton).

I noticed your comment to me was at like 3 a.m. that day, haha.

Would MiniPlu like a copy of Paper Towns, do you think, since she expressed an interest in it? And/or, are there other John Green's she hasn't read but might be interested in? (both L and I really liked An Abundance of Katherines). We did buy an infinity scarf for her (actually... we kind of bought 4; I'll ask you about their suitability over on the other post, once I figure out if I can find pictures of them online or should take some myself -- depending on what you think, I can save some of the lighter ones for her birthday, return them, or let L keep them), but I do so love giving books :)

13-page paper in eighth grade -- that's impressive! I don't think L has ever had to write anything nearly that long. Hell, I'm not sure if I ever did, to be honest... Maybe some of my research papers in upper-div classes, but a lot of that page real estate was taken up by figures and charts.

Maybe you had to be there, but, man, the horror she had at realizing just what had transpired in the bed she now slept in - it was priceless.

Haha, no, I got a laugh out of just reading it -- that's hilarious! XD (Poor MiniPlu, beset on all sides :P)

The fleece would be nice for just lounging around in, but way too hot for me to sleep in. And then the plain knit PJs have the opposite problem for me. Flannel is generally just perfect - it's been frustrating!

MiniPlu has only read Fault In Our Stars and liked it (although, irritatingly enough, she liked the movie better). She seems to be finding knock-off dystopian books repetitive (she's re-reading Hunger Games and still loves it, but started getting bored by the end of the Divergent series) and I'm having a hard time finding another book or type she would like. All I can say is - I didn't like Looking for Alaska, myself, and it made me reluctant to try other John Green novels. I loved AFIOS, but have no idea how any of the other books are. I would probably just pick one, if you're going to go book-ish, and hope for the best?

The paper only had to be, like, 3 pages. It was a character-driven narrative, and MiniPlu just had this elaborate storyline in mind, and it ran into 13 pages. (She has HATED editing 13 pages, however!) I didn't write anything that long until I was in college!

My daughter has been using GoodReads to find books to try. The recommendations aren't always great, but there tend to be a lot of them, and people make lists of thematically linked books that can be helpful in finding more books like something else.

Right now, my daughter's very much into Marissa Meyer's series that starts with Cinder and Marie Lu's books and Kerstin Gier's books.

After consulting with L, we will give An Abundance of Katherines a shot with MiniPlu -- it's really cute, and I think you might also get a kick out of it. And, hoping for the best.

Also, getting this penguin and this penguin for Two (one for Christmas, one for birthday) -- not sure if his wishlist will automatically update. (They're cuter than the ones we have at the zoo :P)

That's really impressive that MiniPlu went that far above and beyond! And I can imagine, getting stuck with editing something that long!
