Catching up - or trying to, anyway

Whenever I have a few minutes to post, I never feel like "talking". So then it all piles up and I end up with these ridiculously long summaries of My Life. :P Sorry about that.

Friday: Saw GI specialist. She had nothing new to offer. Wants to do surgery. Do not feel sick enough yet for surgery. I also lost my umbrella.

Weekend: Went to NJ to celebrate our youngest niece's 7th birthday. She had a party at a roller skating rink, to which our two kids had been invited. I skated for a bit, too. Everyone had fun. Rest of weekend was nondescript, just hung out as family. W&R fixed Dad's brakes on his truck, the women + Dad went out to brunch at the family's favorite diner, and MiniPlu was, along with her cousin Monica (age 17), treated to a manicure. I trimmed a lot of Box Tops for school.

School: Lo and behold, Two will have a FULL WEEK OF SCHOOL this week, for the first time since before (American) Thanksgiving. MiniPlu won't: parent-teacher conferences tomorrow mean that school gets out at noon. MiniPlu will actually BE at school for the full day, but she won't be in class at all, not even a minute, because tomorrow's when they do the "preview" performances for the area elementary schools.

Other stuff: Since Monday I have done laundry, been to the grocery store, the farm market, TKD twice, the children's consignment store which is, sadly, closing its doors on Friday, the library (school), the library (public), the post office, the drug store, seen a dietician and had my annual gyn exam, whee, taught PREP (lesson on Lent/Ash Wed: No, dear children, Lent is not in December or October or on Christmas or Easter. No, the thing that everyone receives regardless of age is not Communion. Communion is not given to "everyone regardless of age". No, it is not the bread - that is Communion. No, it is not the little round white thing you put in your mouth - that's the bread. Which is Communion. No, it's not when you receive palms, although you're getting closer. No, the ashes are not hot. Yes, you still have to come next week unless you want to be marked absent), read emmagrant01's delightful Sherlock fic Inexplicable, read a very trite m/m short story on my Kindle called The Rest of Forever, started reading the final False Prince book (The Shadow Throne) aloud, repeatedly dealt with a very stressed MiniPlu (see above: the play starts this week), made lasagna and vegetable tangine, ate way too many snacks and slept not nearly enough.

I have not started my H/D mpreg fic. I have not signed my kids up for some spring "fun" classes at the community college. I'm ludicrously behind on answering email. I haven't finished the long-overdue filing I started a week ago. I have hardly seen my husband. I have not watched the Closing Ceremonies (which I recorded, since we weren't home). I have not slept nearly enough. Oh, wait - I said that already.

Clearly, I should go to bed.

Oh, and tonight our microwave broke AGAIN. This time it has to do with the door latch, which appears to close but the latch has jiggled loose and is no longer latching sufficiently to trigger the "door is closed" part of the computer, and so the microwave interior light remains on and pressing "start" achieves nothing. Initial repair crew coming on Fri morning - we'll see if it takes them less than 3 weeks to repair this time. :P
