Sleep: not enough
Tomorrow night's/Thursday's snow: too much
Constructive use of my time: not enough
Snacks eaten: too many
:-P
And then there's tonight's amusing anecdote
courtesy of MiniPlu. I was helping her study for an upcoming test on Ancient Egypt/Ancient Nubia and the Nile region. They only found out today and the test is tomorrow so, yes, cram time. Anyway, MiniPlu was having trouble remembering the name of a particular Nubian city - Aswan - which I was describing as "a swan" to help her remember.
Me: The name of the city in Nubia?
MiniPlu: [...]
Me: *prompting* Bird.
MiniPlu: *thinking* Oh, Aswan! Wait ... I didn't know swans were birds!
Me: *facepalm*
MiniPlu: I thought they were ducks!
Me: *facepalms harder* DUCKS ARE BIRDS!!
MiniPlu: *starts laughing* I know ducks are birds. I just thought swans were a kind of duck.
Me: WHICH ARE BIRDS.
Both of us: *dissolve into giggling*
Thank you, Hans Christian Andersen, and your rousing tale of
The Ugly Duckling - the baby swan raised by mean-spirited ducks. This is why MiniPlu thought swans were ducks. (Why she considered either species to be non-birds, I have no idea.) I pointed out the moral of The Ugly Duckling would be like giving her a baby elephant and having her complain that it was a really ugly dog. She was still howling with laughter at this point, however, so I'm not sure how much of an impact my comparison made.
And God only knows how well she'll do on her test tomorrow. *facepalms again, for good measure*
Time to deal with dishes and see if I can manage to get as many as 6 hours of sleep for once. :P How are you all doing?
