In short...
So, THIS is the Glee I love! Equal screentime for the main actors! Funny mixed with dramatic! Good numbers! Rachel being tolerable!
...And the requisite amount of 'aww, I want to give Kurt a hug!' So, I'm MORE than content :D
Some of the highlights:
- ah, you know how I feel about the Finn/Kurt, and I still like what they're doing with the relationship, even though right now it seems Kurt's still trying to push him away (and yes, I'll admit to a fangirl-y squee when Finn said "I really like you, Kurt.") I do, however, have a minor problem with the fact that everyone seems to know Santana and Brittany are closer than normal friends and yet Santana can sing with a girl and have it be fine, but when Kurt wants to sing with a guy he gets all sorts of flack.
- Rachel being kind of nice but mostly doing it for herself, and Finn calling her on it. Win! Also, even though Rachel's ulterior motive is still "WIN NATIONALS!", her scene with Kurt was really nice and their song at the end was a great way to end the episode (although my dad had to mention at the end that they are undoubtedly the best singers, which is interesting only because my dad has never really expressed an opinion about who was the best singer in the group)
- LIMITED SCHUE! ACTUALLY DOING WHAT HE SHOULD BE; THAT IS, BEING A TEACHER! And while I missed Sue, the episode didn't seem to lag without her, and I'm glad the writers aren't just throwing her in where there's no place for her. (And yes, of COURSE I missed Puck, but I know that Mark was recording his album at the time so they had to write him out...)
- I like Sam and Quinn, although Sam/Kurt would be adorable, but I think they'd be good together (and they sound good together, even though compared to some of the other pairings they don't have the vocal power. But they chose a song that matched their voices well)
- Since we got an almost!girl!kiss!scene, I now demand an almost!guy!kiss!scene (or, you know, an actual!guy!kiss!scene). For realz.
- The Brittany/Artie storyline confused me a little because it seemed like the one extraneous one, but I actually felt bad for Brit-Brit at the end because I honestly believe she had no idea what she was doing :(
- As my dad said, "when did Santana become ghetto?" Also, her dance moves in RDMH were kinda scary.
- Aw, how cute is Mike? Honestly, some friends of mine did that a few years ago at a festival, and I thought it was such an appropriate song.
- I think that's about it. I really, really enjoyed the episode, and as for the next one...even though I've never seen all of RHPS, I KNOW they'll do an amazing job with it :)
