Although I knew ND would lose, it felt very sad. :( I don´t understand why they had to end the Lima chapter like that. Unless something happens in the next two episodes, it would be awful to have the glee club cancelled. I don´t care much for the newbies, but for me it´s like the club represented a space where the outcasts could be safe and happy.
The whole Finn thing made me emotional. T_T Especially Carole´s part.
But I didn´t get the whole "leader Sam" thing. Blaine was the leader, he had more performing experience and was the new Rachel. =/ Was it because he wasn´t a football player?? Sometimes I really don´t get the writers.
It was definitely sad; and I think it was mostly so that, for the moment at least, there's no story to tell in Lima so the writers don't have to worry about what's going on there while things are happening in New York. But the fact that it's just over like that is kind of depressing :/
It's like...I dunno, Blaine was the new 'Rachel,' so Schue decided somebody needed to be the new 'Finn' and it made no sense with everything else that's been going on and will never be mentioned again, so...
I wish they'd had Sam approach Will about wanting to lead because he owed it to Finn for bringing him into the group - that would have made more sense, and Blaine would have supported his best friend in that.
I also found myself wondering if these were some of Cory's favorite songs, because we never got the sense they were Finn's, ever!
I'm not disappointed with them losing; it felt full circle. It would be nice to think that Glee was still going without everyone, but the clear ending actually makes me feel better. Now we can think of a new teacher recreating it to fill a void just like Will did, down the line.
That would have made so much more sense and actually would have been better narratively because it wouldn't have felt like Schue was guilting Sam into something he wasn't sure about, so I really wish they would have done it that way!
And Cory's favorite song was 'I Wanna Know What Love Is' by Foreigner; he said over and over that he wanted to sing it on the show so if they would have done anything I would have guessed it would be that one (although apparently Mercedes is singing it later in the season, but not with anything to do with Finn...) so that part felt kind of contrived.
Yeah, I think it definitely had to be a clean break so that if Lima disappears entirely there's no wondering what's happening with the club because the club doesn't exist. It wouldn't surprise me if they bring it back at some point next season, but this season I doubt will have anything to do with New Directions as a club any longer.
Didn't like the episode but maybe not for the reasons you think.
Had NO IDEA that Burt & Carole were going to be in this ep at all, let alone join them in LA. Did not know that Nationals was going to be a sort of tribute to Finn either which I can understand ND doing; however there was no mention of it until Tues. night. Indeed, after the tribute, apart from Burt & Carole (who weren't on the show but I assumed anyway were grieving) the only people on Glee who actually SPOKE about Finn's passing, & how it affected them, & how they were trying to deal w' it were Kurt & Rachel. Which makes sense - the show is either a comedy or a dramady, & doesn't need to dwell on death & grief. The people most affected discussed it. But the others NEVER mentioned it, EVER. So it suddenly becoming so important didn't ring as true as it might have otherwise.
Mike and Romy absolutely nail every scene they're in and I thought both of them were wonderful and pretty much everything Carole said was both true and emotionally resonantThey were amazing, &

thought that THIS episode was pure manipulation by TPTB. If they didn't want me to feel that way, they should have put in the tiniest of efforts to make me realize that Finn would be a part of the Nationals set list. Or that they would honoring him in some manner.
THIS. I had no idea that a Finn tribute was coming. And it blindsided me...and made me way more upset than it would have if I'd at least had a tiny suspicion it was coming.
with Jean-Baptiste being the son of Cirque du Soleil parents I expected some, I dunno, flips and tricks (heck, even the Warblers did those!) so that underwhelmed me a little. And I know they had dancers proficient enough to do things like that.
I didn't know Jean-Baptiste's family history, but if the show is going to talk about Throat Explosion in such superlatives, then they really need that group to perform something that rivals the Bohemian Rhapsody performance from season 1. IMO.
...I think I've seen gay pornos that start like this.
BEST LINE EVER!!
Marlee Matlin is one of my favorite people in the world. I was THRILLED to see her. I'm sure I had that Blaine face on MY face when they announced her.
Sue was so great in this episode, although so much of her last speech was definitely meta on where the show is going. Not sure exactly what that means, as in what in her speech tells us where the show is going

I definitely felt a little manipulated with the way it was all presented and that nothing was ever talked about before this week that Nationals was going to be a tribute to Finn. And I agree that Nationals was underwhelming, but I've felt that way about the last few competitions so I think they just weren't trying as hard any longer

and that takes away any catharsis I could feel in the moment and just ends up being a reminder that I don't really want or need.
EXACTLY. I had no idea this episode would be such a Finn tribute and it made me really upset.
Hi Tina thank you for breaking up the scene that makes no sense.
I was really hoping he'd be giving the SAME pep talk to all of them! But alas, no.
I honestly thought they were going to hug and I got excited and then Jake like went to put a shirt on nO.
Sooo disappointing. (And it felt like they were wrapping up all of the 'newbies' plots as fast as possible this week, so is that the last scene we'll ever get between the two of them? )
why are they staring out the bus windows yeah you're really helping there guys.
And who is the extra guy ??? (I count "Glee" kids. They had 3 extra girls on stage, so for once there were more girls than guys!)
I know the boots were necessary for the military-robot costumes, but they look ridiculous with the dresses.I totally agree! It looked so wrong it kept throwing

As far as the newbies go, i don't think they're getting much focus in the next couple of episodes so...yeah, they're probably not going to interact one-on-one anymore, which is kind of sad.
I know they got new choreographers this year (and their original choreographer quit to go work on other projects) which might explain why most of their numbers are 'run around without any choreography whatsoever' but when it comes to competitions it's disappointing.
I was okay with Tina getting the lead, but she and Blaine seemingly couldn't stand up without holding onto each other for the whole performance so that was more what my comment was about!
Matt wasn't there; that was the week he had a spider in his ear and had to spend it in the hospital so he was never part of their ballad competition xP
