Chapter Five
Finn wasn’t going to be brash enough to ask Kurt if he could stay over but Mr. Hummel…Burt…had invited him to stay for dinner so he’d gladly done that before going home, the bed feeling cold and empty without Kurt’s body in his arms.

And he’d only slept with him for one night.

That wasn’t good.

However, his dreams were rather pleasant that evening, even if some of the things Kurt was doing wasn’t anything he’d ever do in real life, but ever since Finn had helped him out of his skin-tight leotard he’d had a pretty good idea of what the other boy’s body looked like, lithe and pale yet well-defined, skin smooth and flawless and his hand is sneaking into his pyjama pants without him even thinking about it.

He shouldn’t.  He knew he shouldn’t.

…But for tonight, he would.

Kurt still looked depressed the next day, shuffling through the halls, and Finn caught a glimpse of Quinn and Puck walking close, looking awkward but not touching, and he felt even worse.  Kurt was really hurting and he supposed it was considerate of them to not suddenly become an out-and-out couple, but this wasn’t really helping.

He was so lost in thought that he barely registered the sound of ice-cold slushie hitting flesh, and by the time he’d realized it wasn’t him there were shouts in the hallway and Kurt.

“What the Hell?!”

“Dude, you think we haven’t always thought you was a fairy?” Azimio laughed and tossed the empty cup on the ground, stomping on it.  “Face it, the only reason you haven’t taken a bath in ice daily is ‘cuz you were bangin’ Blondie.  Now that she’s no longer your beard, it’s about time we treated you like you deserve,” he laughed and stepped forward, Kurt taking a step backward instinctively, hands coming up and blue slush dripping from his jacket.

“HEY!”

“What you want, fag?  Come to save your boyfriend?”

“Leave him alone, okay?  He’s been through enough without you idiots ganging up on him,” Finn didn’t know where this side of him was coming from, but it felt good.

“He’s only gettin’ what he deserves.  And you should be thankful, fairy, because otherwise you would have gotten that slush,” one of the other boys spat as they all laughed and moved off, Finn sighing because yes, he may be the Quarterback, but off the field he was still ‘Finn Hudson - resident gay.’

But Kurt needed him, although when he turned around he was met with a slush-splattered row of lockers and a swinging bathroom door.
Finn pushed through into the bathroom and saw Kurt standing at the sink, looking close to tears as his fingers clutched the porcelain and his chest heaved.

“Hey.  You wanna hit up the locker room?  Get a shower?” Finn tried quietly.  “There’s nobody in there this time of day…”

Kurt nodded, silent, and Finn took his hand when the smaller boy offered it and led him to the locker rooms, staring at the floor while Kurt stripped off his shirt without regard and slid his jeans down, leaving him in a rather tight pair of underwear that did nothing to hide the fact that he, well, wasn’t small.  Which Finn had seen before, with the unitard, but…wow.

“So, I’ll just…” he pointed to the shower, hair still blue with slush and Finn’s heart sped up, racing at a probably unhealthy pace as he nodded mutely.

“D’you want some help?” he blurted before he could stop himself, and no, Finn, that was not in any way appropriate, but…Kurt smiled and nodded.

“It…would be nice to have an extra set of eyes to make sure all of this comes out.  And I know you’re not coming on to me,” he added as Finn gulped, hands fisting the hem of his shirt before he took a deep breath and stripped it off.

Kurt was staring at him appraisingly, one eyebrow slightly raised, and Finn blushed and contemplated pulling his shirt back on.

“No, leave it.  Trust me, you’ve got nothing to be ashamed of.  You’ve seen some of the guys on the team,” he shuddered and headed into one of the stalls, Finn taking his jeans off and following as Kurt turned the water on, trails of blue running down his body.

This was such a bad idea.

But he couldn’t back out now, so he gulped and reached forward, hand brushing wet, slick smooth skin as Kurt smiled at him, underwear already soaked and clinging to him and wow, that was really not hiding anything.  “Um.  Should I just…”

“I don’t have anything here for my hair, but just…rinse it out?” Kurt suggested and Finn nodded in reply, fingers trailing through Kurt’s soft hair as he worked the chunks of ice and sticky syrup out of it, Kurt keeping his eyes closed the whole time..

The water was warm and pleasant, Finn falling into an almost trance-like state as he kept rhythmically moving his hands, no longer cleaning but just sort of stroking, feeling, and Kurt let out a pleased sigh and leaned back against him, Finn’s arms sliding around his waist before he could stop it.

“I’ve been thinking,” Kurt said, breaking the relative silence, and Finn tensed before he could help it.  “I thought...you make me feel safe, Finn, and I can’t explain it.  But when I’m with you, I don’t have to worry about being ‘Kurt Hummel - star kicker’ or ‘Kurt Hummel - what will he do now that his girlfriend’s gotten knocked up’, you know?  I can just be me, and you’re the first person I’ve felt that around.  And I don’t…I’m not gay, but maybe that doesn’t matter,” he relaxed further against Finn, even tinier wet and almost-naked, and Finn squeezed him tightly.

“What are you saying?” Finn whispered, hardly daring to believe it, and Kurt turned his head and pressed his lips firmly to Finn’s arm, his meaning more than clear.  “I…”

“Kiss me, Quarterback,” Kurt said teasingly, turning around as his arms came around Finn’s neck, and Finn bent his head and did so, lips fitting with Kurt’s naturally as Kurt moaned softly, holding him tighter.  He tasted sweet, lips still slightly tacky from the slush syrup, but Finn was being given an amazing gift here and he’d be a fool not to take advantage of it.

He wrapped his arms firmly around the lithe body, kissing him deeply, and Kurt reciprocated with a pleased hum as he chuckled and licked into Finn’s mouth.  “Eager, aren’t we?”

“C’mon,” Finn muttered, not sure what he was referring to, but Kurt kissed him deeper, slower, a pleasant burning starting to form in his stomach as their groins, separated only by two thin layers of fabric, pressed together.

And oh, this was not good.  Mailman.  Mailman, mailman, “Mailman,” he hissed before breaking away, gasping, and Kurt looked a little shocked himself, hair weirdly sticking up from the water and his lips cherry-red.

“Finn?  Are you…oh, gosh, I’m sorry, I thought…”

“It’s cool,” Finn waved him off.  “I just…uh…I have problems.  Finishing early,” he elaborated, and Kurt let out what sounded like a relieved sigh and moved closer.

“I thought I was moving too fast.”

“No.  Of course not,” Finn chanced a smile and was happy when Kurt smiled in return, stepping forward almost shyly and taking his hand.  “I just…this all feels a little like a dream.”

“I’m having a hard time believing it, myself,” Kurt admitted, his thumb gently stroking the back of Finn’s hand.  “By all rights I should be wary and more than a little freaked out, but I’m truly not.  Do you…my dad’s in the shop again, do you want to come over?” he asked and Finn could see he was hopeful and apprehensive all at once, beautiful even in the harsh fluorescent light of the locker room.

Finn couldn’t do anything but agree.

It was far stranger that evening than it should have been.  Burt, after a few seconds examining him, had apparently decided he was trustworthy and had okayed him to stay over, and Kurt had obviously tried to hide his excitement as he led Finn down the stairs, his smirk already causing Finn’s pants to tighten (and it was awkward because, well, his underwear was kinda soaked so he was going commando).

“I think some of my workout clothes will fit you,” Kurt was saying, digging through his chest of drawers, and Finn watched him as he came up with a pair of sweats that looked at least big enough in the waist.  “They’ll probably be short, but it’s better than nothing.”

“Thanks,”  he took them hesitantly and headed into the bathroom to change, coming out shirtless and feeling a little more than self-conscious, although Kurt was looking at him with thinly veiled hunger now and it made him feel better about everything.  Kurt was wearing a rather wide-necked sweatshirt that bared one shoulder and Finn felt inexplicably drawn to that tiny sliver of skin, even though he’d seen the boy nearly naked only a few hours earlier.  “So.”

“So.  TV before bed?  Or straight to it?” Kurt smiled cheekily and Finn opted for TV, pulling a blanket around his shoulders and trying not to be overly surprised when Kurt lifted up a corner and burrowed close, cheek resting just below Finn’s shoulder.  Finn’s arm came around his back instinctively and he stroked Kurt’s uncovered shoulder, smelling him as Kurt laughed and half-closed his eyes.

“What if your dad comes down?”

“He won’t,” the smaller boy promised, kissing Finn’s shoulder and letting himself relax, hand seeking out Finn’s as their fingers twined innocently.  “This is nice.”

“You never did this with Quinn?” Finn asked, honestly a little shocked.

“Quinn was…reluctant to accept too much physical contact.  We didn’t cuddle.  When we kissed I had to keep my hands on her hips and God forbid I thought of moving them,” he wrinkled his nose and Finn thought absently that he could certainly see Quinn doing that, now that he thought on it.  “You won’t stop me touching, will you?” Kurt looked awed as he skimmed his hand down Finn’s chest, his fingers light and tickling slightly, and Finn shook his head.

He wanted Kurt to touch him.  Badly.

Kurt seemed to get this and pressed his palm flat against Finn’s chest, curling his fingers in slightly as Finn shivered.  “Is that okay?”
“Yeah.  Completely,” Finn promised, taking his own hand and holding Kurt’s there.  “Are we…what about your dad?  I mean…”

“Let’s…figure this out for ourselves, first,” Kurt laughed, looking not all that worried.  “We can tell your mother if you think she won’t kill me.”

“She loves you, man.  She thinks that you’re just what I need,” Finn said truthfully, because his mom did adore Kurt and said so more than a few times in the past couple of days.

“I’m glad, then,” Kurt burrowed even closer, stroking Finn’s chest even as Finn touched his shoulder lightly, and Finn wondered if Kurt was his boyfriend now.

He wouldn’t mind that so much.

000
“Morning,” Kurt’s voice was light and airy, his hair falling haphazardly over the headband he’d put on to keep it back and his shirt sliding nearly down his arm, happy and radiant in the morning light.  Finn reached out instinctively, morning breath be damned, and Kurt sighed into the kiss and reciprocated with a laugh.  “So.  What’s the plan for today?”

“Um,” Finn paused.  He hadn’t come out to anybody at school.  They all thought Kurt was straight.  And even with that, the two of them still got bullied.  If they came out… “I think…”

“Take it slow?” Kurt seemed to read his mind but his voice wasn’t unkind, and his eyes sparkled as Finn kissed him again.  “I agree.  It’s for the best.  Maybe when we’re ready we can tell the club, but the team…”

“Yeah. They can’t know,” Finn whispered.  “I…if anything happened to you…”

“I can take care of myself,” Kurt sniffed, but he still didn’t sound annoyed.  “Although, thank you.  I appreciate the sentiment.”

“Of course,” Finn pulled him back down and hugged him tightly, still a little in shock and feeling like this could end at any minute.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Kurt vowed, hands locking behind Finn’s neck as he stared at him and drew him into a slow kiss, Finn still clutching at him.  “Boyfriend,” Kurt whispered when they parted and Finn felt his heart flutter.

Boyfriend.

Kurt Hummel was his boyfriend.

…Maybe things weren’t going to be so bad after all.
