Primary Hexagram #30: Li Radiance
Li "fire" rises above itself and doubles. It suggests a brightness that rises above, an openness and illumination. To be sustained, such a light needs continual and correct nourishment. In the soul, such sources of fuel can be found in support and inspiration; Li asks us to be a light that is put into service for the benefit of others, helping those who are close to you to advance in their paths. Now is not the time to shine for oneself; shine for others and all will benefit.
Potential Hexagram # 37 Jia Ren Household
Li “fire” rises and joins Xun “wind.”
One’s inner fire comes from the home; in the home, there is the family. Whether this family is blood relation or the family of a community, it is time to return to the hearth of one’s heart and reconnect with kith and kin. It is auspicious to find one’s proper place at the table, thereby strengthening the connections between each member of the family, and fulfill one’s ordained role in the home. When everyone sits in their proper place and the meal is shared together, all are happy.
Line four changes to yin: Share the wealth with the entire household. You bring with you unique gifts; be sure that you give them freely, for it will only multiply the wealth, not diminish it.
Line five changes to yang: A household fit for a king is one with mutual regard and affection. Take into account not only the well-being of the family, but of oneself. A well-run house recognizes the needs of everyone, the role each member plays, and the gift each brings to the whole. A well-run, healthy family must actively work to bring each and every member to their full self-fulfillment.
