Duanwujie Festival Invitation
You are cordially invited to celebrate the Duanwujie Festival at the Ao Family Pavilion. This year's dragon boat races look to be auspicious, with a number of the extended Ao Family planning to attend this yearly event. Come to the pavilion and celebrate Qu Yuan's watery death with the Ao!
Where: Ao Family Viewing Pavilion, along the palace moat off the Meridian Gate
What: Dragon Boat Races, lion dancing, food and merriment for all.
When: Races begin at noon on Duanwujie. Blessing of the fleet at 0900 at the docks. Fireworks at sundown.
Doors to the pavilion will open at 10:00. Food service begins at 11:00 and continues until the last of the fireworks.
No one will be admitted without a pass. You must be 300 years or older to consume alcohol. Valid ID must be presented. The Commander reserves the right to refuse alcohol to any attendee who calls him 'chalk booty' even if they protest it is meant as a compliment.
Ceremonial zongzi will be provided free of cost. Please do not attempt to feed zongzi to any attending Ao family member. They are well versed in table manners and quite able to feed themselves.
Betting Rules:
Bookmaking at the Pavilion is not allowed. Off-site wagering facilities can be found at the Officers' Club and at Bai's Bar and Bookie in the Marketplace. Betting on all races closes 15 minutes before the first race. Results of each race will be posted at the pavilion bar.
This pass is good for two adult admissions to the pavilion. To obtain additional passes, contact the Commander's secretary at least 24 hours in advance. Children may attend without a pass, but must be accompanied by an adult.
"The Commander warmly invites one and all to celebrate with his family and friends"
