missed opportunities
It hit me while I was away, reading an opinion piece in the Herald Tribune. I don't remember who wrote it, but it was about things the next president needs to do for the economy. And there was a sentence, something along the lines of "whoever the next president is, HE will need to..."
And there is was, clear as day- "HE", not "he or she"
I realize I am a little late on this, but that was really the moment that I brought home the fact that for the next couple of years at least, we are not breaking that barrier. Other barriers yes, but not barriers that change our basic vocabulary... that makes a difference.
