Sooooooooo…
I guess this is my once in a blue moon lj post. I’m not sure if there’s actually a blue moon this month, but bah.
Anyway, summer is going well. I’ll now be in China in September, Chicago in the fall, D.C. in the winter and Paris and elsewhere in the spring.
So, I’ll probably live in Plex in the fall. I could live in the nicer graduate housing, but I get the feeling I’m going to be too stressed to cook. My dinners have been getting inventive. I got 4 meals out of Cozy Noodle takeout by mixing it with steamed broccoli every night…yeah.
My family is so nice and sent me Maine mountain blueberries that they picked. I made a pie (so good). And then, guess what? They missed their connecting flight in Chicago, so I got to have dinner with them. They probably weren’t too thrilled about getting a 6 a.m. flight the next morning but I think it’s the best thing ever to come out of O’Hare.
As for school, stressful as always and I won’t say much because we all know how blogging goes. But it’s been a great experience reporting out of Chicago, as I suspected. Here’s my average day.
6:15 a.m. I hate you alarm clock
6:45 breakfast
7:00 grab the Chicago Tribune
7:02 get on the El and read the Trib on the way to work
7:20 El starts to get really crowded, sucks for everyone else that they don’t live far enough north to get seats because mine is oh so comfy.
7:40 get off the El and walk 2 blocks to work in fancy building in the loop
7:50 buy banana from the guy who runs the news shop
7:52 take elevator to second floor - food in fridge, restroom, plug in laptop, etc.
9:00 morning meeting
4 p.m. final deadline
6 supposed to finish work
7 finish work unless evening events to cover
7:20 catch El and listen to Wait, wait. don’t tell me! on my ipod
8 get off El, bag with laptop, powercord, notebooks, etc is way too heavy and leaving a permanent bruise
8:10 home
8:30 dinner
9 prepare for school tomorrow
10:30-11 fun/check e-mail
11 shower
11:45 bed
