Turned in my application...well, documents really, to the small local business after much nervousness. Well, it didn't feel like much. Just a little but the fear from it kept me from going in for about half an hour while I sat in a nearby parking lot.
There was nobody at the front door and a camera mounted high on the wall across from the door, which was a little puzzling and kept me from wandering deeper into the office looking for a person. One showed up after a moment so I wasn't waiting long. She got me someone that could take the documents. She returned with the operations manager.
All I can think of now is all of the things I did wrong, or should have done. I didn't say my name, I didn't specify that I knew the name of the hiring manager already. I basically said I'd called about a week ago and hadn't heard back thus wanted to ensure that they had all my documents to consider me for the position and pointed out that the last document was sample product copy for a few of their products.
The operations manager smiled, seemed upbeat and thanked me for them and said she'd ensure that they get to the hiring manager. So...hopefully that will help my case. Along the same lines hopefully I'm the only one to deliver in person to help me stand out.
