Now that I've written the subject it's time I tell you my dirty little secret.
I don't know where I was going with that.
Trolls? Under the bridge.
Aside from collecting tolls...am I the only one wondering why the only thing separating trolls from their enslaved--or chosen--profession is a missing letter "r"?
If these trolls are so good at collecting tolls why do we also have tollbooths and why do we need to repair bridges, shouldn't the trolls have a division of bridge repair, if so once profitable wouldn't they want to ensure that the bridges are able to keep up with the demands of traffic and embark on upgrades as needed thus allowing them to potentially up their tolls and thus revenue?
If trolls have a monopoly on collecting bridge tolls why aren't they putting it to use? They could be fabulously wealthy! They could be part of the one percent and have the nicest mansion you've ever seen under a bridge. Or maybe the mansion is the bridge! (That could be an interesting home. It has potential if you solve for flooding.)
This entry--or at least this first bit of it--brought to you by the land of fantasy, is completely out of line with my current mood/emotional state. Which is: I wish I could hide from virtually everyone.
Around lunch it was very apparent how...extravertedly-focused my workplace is. Open space and collaboration are the words the environment was built around. Great for people who value socializing. It carries over in to the cafeteria...admittedly I've never seen a non-open cafeteria layout.
When I want to be left alone, to have peace, and be entirely by myself the best I can do is sit at a table alone in a big room with other people and focus only on food...which I don't particularly enjoy, or sit at my desk and read while I eat and maybe stick earphones in to try and ward off anyone else talking to me. The headphones would be a sign of an extreme measure. I normally eat and read. Curious...I still had a link open for an
article I was reading on CNN some time ago from a TED speaker about introverts in the workplace.
Trolls.
Under the bridge.
I'm going to hide now.
