Knitting is actually a lot easier than it looks. You just have to learn how to do a couple of things, and then repeat them a heck of a lot of times... this scarf had exactly 13600 stitches, without counting the casting on, casting off, yarn overs and dropped stitches, plus the fringe... it's easy; you just need a lot of patience and a bit of attention to detail. If you get too distracted you might mess up... though the beauty of knitting is that it isn't impossible to fix most of your mistakes, and even if you don't it probably won't be very noticeable. At least, not this with scarf pattern... which is exactly why I picked it for my first scarf. ;)
I tried before and I failed. I have clumsy thumbs ermm and the rest of my fingers too. XD So, your next project would be a scarf too. I saw the green ones in the galery. They're pretty.
I'm terribly clumsy too, but I'm also stubborn, so I eventually managed to teach my big, clumsy fingers how to handle those frigging needles. I'd tried once and failed a while back and wasn't going to try again, but somebody (*cough*sparklyfanta*cough*) kept talking about pretty knitted wear, and she made me want to try again... with better results than I expected. I was lucky to find great teaching videos, too... do you want the links? maybe you just didn't have good enough teaching material...

Omg, I would love to if you could give me the links. I want to give it a try again. Well, slowly, hopefully I could learn few things. My dolls need new clothes and I can't afford them. XD
Check the videos from Cyberseams in youtube, She gives very, very clear instructions on how to knit while showing you the needles as you would look at them when knitting (I don't know about you, but I find it terribly confusing when looking at somebody knit in front of me.. I can't picture what I have to do with the needles)... plus she gives instructions for left-handed people, too. Check her videos until you find one that will help you; she even teaches how to use the continental style (which I skipped; it looks too complicated for me).
She also teaches a few other crafts, including how to sew a button... so you can see, she goes from zero level of skill so that anybody can get what they have to do. ^__^ There are a couple more videos that taught me how to correct some mistakes and gave advice on which needles to buy and stuff, but these were definitely the clearest and the most useful, for me. Just do a youtube search on "how to knit", you'll be amazed how many videos there are!
I wish my boys can fit those clothes. heheh.. but they're mostly around 65cm - 70cm bjd. Their clothes sometimes, are much more expensive than mine. OTL
