Birding Updates
Was off to Turahalli yesterday morning along with Chandan,deponti,Mahesh and Mohan. Its a small rocky hill just a few kms off Kanakpura road. We managed to reach the place by 6 am and were lucky enough to catch the sunrise. But even before that we got to see the resident Great Horned Owl but then was being constantly being chased by the Drongos. deponti has a detailed trip report here. Its amazing that just 3 kms off Bangalore, we get to see Peafowls !
The weekend before that, I was at TG Halli with deponti,immidi and sainath. We left pretty early but reached pretty late since we missed the route at a point and that took 2 more precious hours. I should have written the report that day itself but so many things came up and I never found time for it. And now I am very lazy to write the entire Yes, but we did get to see the Tawny Eagle hovering over us looking for food. We got to see a small clash between a Marsh Harrier and a Brahmini Kite.We also got to see a distinct variety of birds including the Whiskered Tern, Montagu's Harrier,Indian Roller, Pratincole, Little Ringed Plover,Black Shouldered Kite etc. The best one was while we were get back to our car. The Common Kestrel came and sat on a boulder few mts from us and hung around for a while. Whatte sighting it was :)
