Evanescence is becoming a fangirl cliche, I swear. I have seen lyrics from that album used for *so* many badfics. Which pains me, because I love that album . . . it was the first CD by a contemporary American pop/rock band that I'd bought in several years.

Yeah... and it's sad too, because those are some great songs. 'My Last Breath' is so moving and it's so frikkin' bothersome when some angst-whore's Sue kicks the bucket and they shove the lyrics in the background.

Gwah.

I think 'Everybody's Fool' suits the Sues best.

Perfect by nature, icons of self-indulgence...

I've come across a few songs by some of my favorite artists lately that remind me very much of Mary Sues. "Silver Girl" by Fleetwood Mac, on the new album, and then the Absolute Perfect PotC Mary Sue Songfic Song, "Village on the Sand" by Blackmore's Night.

I love both songs (the last one is one of the most catchy damn things ever) but "Silver Girl" basically lists a Mary Sue and her traits, and "Village on the Sand" could be novelized as a Mary Sue with absolutely no effort whatsoever...

That's almost alarming. Good songs, but easily applicable to the Sue crisis.

By the by, you aren't the Swiftgold, are you? The absolutely wonderful writer Swiftgold?

Yeah. It's kind of annoying, really. It almost ruins a good song, but not quite.

Um... well, I'm the only one I know of, if that helps ^^;;; But yeah, I do write fic...

Strange, were email replies to posts disabled? I don't seem to have been getting any lately...

But the songs can be used for parodies! Which probably doesn't help anyway.

And sorry for being silly about the Swiftgold thing - I'd read (and loved) your fanfiction, so that was just me being a goof.

I've been having a few problems with the e-mail replies thing as well; I'm not sure why precisely, but hopefully it's only a select few and will pass soon. ^^

Well, the replies are working on SOME things, because I just got one... hmm...

LOL, yes... if it didn't take me so dang long to write something, I'd love to do a songfic parody Mary Sue, muahaha...um... yes.

Oh, thanks! ^__^ Heh, well, I didn't want to come out and say, "Why, yes, yes, THAT indeed would be me!" But thanks, I'm glad you like them. For which fandom, might I ask? I've been writing Legend of Dragoon for more than a year now, though nothing else has been abandoned... yet...

To be honest, all the anime (your Big O fic, in particular, was AMAZING) and the Lunar one; I'm not a terrifically good gamer, which would be why I haven't read most of those. I do remember your Ronin Warriors site from way, way back - 1999, I think.

And songfics would be lovely, but the biggest problem is finding the time and not feeling guilty for killing a good song. ^^;

Oh, yeah! That's cool! And again, I'm glad you liked them. The RW site's still around, too, but mostly dead... I just have no interest anymore in correcting the spelling in bad Sue fics that most of the authors have probably abandoned by now anyway due to lack of worship...

Yes... let us preserve good songs from the clawing grasp of the Sue.
