As reported all over the Internet, noted SF&F cover artist Darrell K.Sweet passed away yesterday. His art graced a great many favourite novels (link to Google Image search) including the "Thomas Covenant" and "Wheel of Time" series, and he will be sorely missed.

Two astronauts smuggled art to the Moon, creating the first human art installation on another world. That it's a memorial to all the fallen astronauts and cosmonauts up 'till then makes it even more admirable, in my opinion.

Just came up on the CBC and I didn't catch the whole thing, but apparently an interpretive dance troupe has brought the works of Edward Gorey to the stage in Ottawa this week ( Read more... )

... but dammit I know you can't write off a medium as incapable of supporting art after a mere 30 years. However it appears that Roger Ebert does not.
