the last of my London friends has checked in

Jul 11, 2005 10:01

Just heard from Matt & Kristi. They actually landed in London that morning, hearing the news as they landed that bombs had gone off in several tube stations and a bus. We are thankful that the airports weren't a target. They are in Basingstoke (I think), and have no Internet or phone service yet, as efforts are concentrated on fixing problems caused by the attacks.

Thank you, God for keeping them safe. Comfort the families of the victims and give peace to those people who are still missing friends and family members. Give peace to those people who lived through each bomb. Take away their nightmares. Give them renewed joy for living. Heal the wounded and give courage, energy and strength to the rescue workers.
Amen

As I type this, I'm watching a busy and naughty squirrel out my window. All morning he has been pilfering from the neighbor's birdfeeder -- they must have a new mix -- and then burying his loot in ours and the neighbor's yards! Yes, burying. He's been extremely busy. It's been entertaining to watch, but somehow sad, too. Reminds me of a book I bought when my dad died, based on the title alone. And Not One Bird Stopped Singing -- I've still never opened the book. The title chokes me up every time I see or think of it.

Blessings on you, my friends today. Hugs if we were in person.
