Have you seen the "3 things about Islam" video?

I just watched this (it's long -- 8 minutes), and am not sure what to think. I don't know anything about the person or organization who posted it, the "related videos" on the side give me pause, and I'll be honest; I'm confused by what could be implied from this video, if it's accurate. I'm very curious to hear your thoughts -- the people who ( Read more... )

So maybe it says something about me that I only got halfway through this? Without an identifed person and frame of reference I find it difficult to listen to the point of view. Plus the person is picking 3 things from a major religion - why just 3, why these 3? why not 4 or 6 or 1? and in the first thing are you using the word hijacked to get my attention or have I missed the fact that many Muslims are upset Islam has been hijacked? (Note: I don't ask those questions sarcastically, I'm just asking and the fact that I'm asking a nameless, faceless, YouTube person makes me want to walk away from the whole thing because the "set-up" isn't one I'm comfortable learning from. I'm open to anyone teaching me but I need to know a little about the teacher.

Funny you should post this but I was JUST listening to a guy on the radio (this week!) talk about his book "Paul Meets Mohammad" There were a lot of things about Islam that he mentioned that I didn't know and that he made me want to know. The one point that stuck with me - even after I got out of the car - was that both Muslims and Christians would be troubled at the idea that Jesus was a false prophet. That historical documentation is key to both but there are points and counterpoints between Islam and Christianity that have some basis in common ground (a novel idea in this world that is becoming increasinging politically and religously polarized).

Forgive the bad grammar and sentence structure, my dear friend Ant but on the heels of thinking about some of these differences because of the radio program I thought I probably should share on this Sunday afternoon.

P.S. I like the comments above - you have thoughtful, smart friends.
