We're going to the Netherlands for my Aunt & Uncle's 50th Anniversary celebration! When I was in NJ for work, I had dinner with my oldest brother and his family. He said we should be going to the party ... so we are!
Anniversary celebrations are huge there -- I remember their 25th. The whole town came! This will be big, too, and Unk's first trip to my father's homeland. I'm so excited to show him my dad's 2-street town :) (population: 300 and dwindling)
My dad had 2 brothers and a sister. Uncle John/Omke Johannes died the same year my dad did, and the sister's husband passed away several years ago. So Omke Jochum (married to Tante Griet) is the only sibling still married and this will be a wonderful celebration.
In this picture from Christmas 2006, their 2 daughters are the blondinas on the left next to me and Unk (they also have 5 sons), and they are in the middle-ish right, next to Grandmother and niece-with-dog.
Anyway, that's where I am.
Oh, and my icon pic? That's a real-live functioning windmill (molle) I took a picture of in 1984 :)
