05 - What exactly is a Communist?

This has been bothering me since I first heard it in school, and I do not quite understand. Why is it "better off to be dead than red"? Is being red a bad thing? Is it some sort of skin condition? How does one become red?

I had another question as well. Does anyone know how to wash blood from an article of clothing?
