A slightly bitter arrival

Apr 19, 2008 15:38

I've moved to a new house, and so it's time to brew a new beer! My roommates are excited to be joining me in this latest brewing adventure.

6 lbs of Pale Malt Extract
1/4 lb of Dextrin Malt
1/2 lb of Belgium Caramunich Malt
1/2 lb of Rauch Malt
3/4 lb of German Smoked Wheat Malt
The bittering hops are 1 oz of Columbus (15.7% AA) and the aroma hops are Amarillo (8.9% AA).
I'm using Wyeast 1272 American Ale II.

I've calculated the IBUs to around 60 to 65. I also am thinking of dryhopping with Amarillo. More on that when it happens.

We've got the boil going currently and there is about 30 minutes left before we are done.
