Actually it isnt that weird of a reaction, roran is from a medieval type of village and there he pribs never heard of or saw a human with a different skincolour, so seeing one for the first time it isnt that weird. Secondly elves were myths in their world so seeing a creature(couldnr Find a better word) he already knew of and could imagine iTS looks. Makes it less weird.

I'd give it a bit of a pass, actually. On Lewis and Clark's expedition, Clark brought along his black slave, York, and there is a story of a Mandan (Native American) chief trying to rub York's black off, as he was the first black person they'd ever encountered. So there is historical basis for this.
