goddamnit
working on my hotel design for birchalls carpark.
Inorder for the accomodation/rooms to receive the best morning sunlight, the tower building needs to be facing 10 or 20 degrees from north, but the problem is that I've gotta provide between 100 and 120 carparks. In order to only have a single level underground carpark (the best result) and fit all the parking spaces, they need to be arranged in a grid that aligns with the site boundries, which run at about -15 degrees from north. Therefore, the desired structural grid is around 25 or 35 degrees out of alignment with the car parking spaces. There also need to be 6m access paths around the edge of the site, and I'm trying to stimulate pedestrian access into the center of the site, which is designed to be a commercial zone that attaches directly to the mall with the demolition of one of the existing buildings that line the mall.
Also, the best views from the site don't corrospond with the optimum angle for daylighting stratergies. Infact, If I was to orientate the tower for best solar performance, about 30% of the view would be of the ugly concrete framed brick infill 33.4 meter myers building.
goddamnit
rearranged the spatial arrangement
moved tower forward on the site, but since it's arranged to optimise solar gain, it's shadowed a large part of the site during midday.
fuck it.
