generosity: overrated.  not that we should use our kindnesses for one another as an insurance policy to call up favors when we need them but when the things you do for others are never met in turn, it's easy to get frustrated.  and it's easy to run down a mental inventory of things you've done for a friend when they are really letting you down.  ( Read more... )

i was thinking about you being generous the other day and how you've been about the first friend since high school that did something like that in the interest of friendship and you know with the kind of people i frequently am involved with it was really a fantastic change of pace and yea chemicals are directly proportional to the soul's decay

i have to give props to your generous spirit as well, getting me a cherry soda drink (the holy grail of sodas) at the mall when i would have given my kingdom for a generic supermarket brand "dr. perky". the change of pace to my blistering thirst was as needed as this recent change of pace to sharing local oxygen with thieves and liars. they make me feel besieged. i've got the most serious of doubts about human consciousness surviving corporeal death but, despite all of the human horror shows that i know making me cynical about the existence of a soul, you and your ilk have stoked new fires of confidence in me. the chemical life makes you hard where you should stay soft but i find that for every thieving, lying, filthmonger addict i know, there is another who exudes kindness even through the soulgrime the drugs leave behind. in fact, their kindness usually exceeds that of sober folk. there was a rubenesque native american alcoholic on "intervention" who exemplified this concept but his name escapes me. it's all to do with the ( ... )
