so this weekend was deliciously lazy. it was a holiday weekend and we were all supposed to go traveling, but we were all so wiped out from midterms that diana, lenny and i stayed home and decided to be bums in our freezing, empty house. friday consisted of a trip to flannerys. its funny that the best mexican food ive ever eaten can be found at an irish pub in chile. there i found out that one of the girls in my program was obsessed with the beatles in middle school too, so we spent about 3 drunk hours trying to remember all the useless beatles tivia we used to know and discussing the merits of yoko vs. cynthia and how paul was an asshole. its always nice to find someone whos a dork in the same way you are - especially when youre drunk.

that was about as ambitious as we got though. seriously, its cold as fuck down here. and none of the buildings have central heating - or even radiators - so insides about as cold as out. we have these little space heaters we have to huddle over, and since there was, like, 5 of us home this weekend, we pulled them all into the tv room, cranked them up, shut the door and just baked and watched movies. i probably lost about half of my brain cells because theyre gas powered and the fumes were starting to make us wacky.

today, we were a little more ambitious and made a feast of veggies and pasta and a pepper cheese-alfredo sauce. for desert was smores, which was funny as i guess theyre just an american thing. no one else had ever had them before. and they apparently dont have grahm crackers here (probably why no one has had them) so we had to make them with these wheat cracker things. it was kinda weird but you couldnt really tell cause chocolate is sweeter here and so you were too busy going into a diabetic coma from the chilean chocolate/marshmallow mix to worry that your cracker wasnt sweet as well.

so yeah, not a really exciting weekend, but nice one. and a long one. i had today off and one of my classes is canceled tomorrow so i might take tomorrow off as well...just what i need after the midterm hell i just went through. today the plan is trying to buy white stripes tickets if theyre not sold out - the weirdest bands come here, shit i never would have expected. that said, its almost 6 now and we havent even begun to make progress for the door...probably it will become tomorrows task.
