Again, forgot that this thing exists. So here's an update:
I'm still
EQ to myself. Here's the obligatory list of recent changes in this instance of # (if anybody writes a persistence library that works with people, I'd very much like to test it, by the way):
I stopped believing in FreeBSD when portupgrade said I'd have to fetch a script from the web and run that in order to upgrade a desktop environment I didn't even want to use. That should have been my clue to stop, turn around and run. Instead, I did what it said, and the script went on and upgraded all ports for a few days, then gave up. Yay port systems. Switched to Debian on the server, and Mac OS X on the desktop. Yay mostly-good upgrade paths, and working keyboard focus!
More friends were found. Some were lost. Read vastly more books, and listened to lots of new and old music.
I think I escaped the capitalistic meat grinding machine for the moment. I'm working as a freelance hacker right now, and finishing my first university degree.
Cut off my hair, didn't have much luck with Jiu-Jitsu and Aikido, am now taking courses at a local gym. The keyboard tray idea didn't work, either. Who would have thought it was this hard to get a height-adjustable keyboard tray in Austria?
See you in another few years!
