I really am still working on it, though. I changed the part about the chair/patronus just before I posted you the link, and I've fixed a couple other things since then. I'll post it as soon as it's finished, I promise!

I just wish I knew what you can do with arithmancy!! The books mention number charts and numerology, but there's nothing about actual applications.

As far as the feathers go... when he was a baby his mother found him using that wandless child-magic on the airplane mobile above his crib, and that was when she made a very conscious choice never to tell him about brooms.

I will post it!

There's a 'parents' prompt, and that'll probably end up being his mother's pov. Other than that, though, I don't know what else might get written in this AU; right now I'm trying to find a good episode guide that mentions all the times he's been injured. Need it to see if he's at all Highlander-compatible.

He may have to do *something* to Rodney, though. Hmmmm...

Oh my god highlander. John. Highlander John.

Uh. Yeah. Me and my fangirl parts will be over here, not latching on to offhand comments in the comments sections of fascinating AU ficlets. Yes. *sidles off*

I pity John for being the object of my crossover frenzy. He just signed up to fly choppers, he shouldn't have to worry about raving authors trying to decide what exactly happens when the Wraith get the munchies.

(Speaking of which, what do you think is worse- final death or the human version of the bottomless pasta bowl?)

He's a pilot, he should be grateful to have his horizons expanded. Through magic and longswords.

(if I were Methos, I'd be forced to say there's no fate worse than permanent death and hey, I'd get over the trauma eventually, but EW EW EW -- having visions of monkey brains, get their head sticking out of a crate and you bash it open to get 'em fresh except they never stop being fresh. And wow, Caspian was such a lovely fellow.)

Magic and longswords and god only knows what else. This is the first time I've written in HP, there are a whole lot of other fandoms I've read that are suddenly looking tempting.

(Okay, on that happy thought I am never sleeping again.)

Yes, yes, crossovers, go, good. I love crossovers. And there's this freakish crush on John Sheppard. So, please, give in to your urges.

(look, you started it, I'm scarred, join me in my suffering. in fact, here, read some horsemen fic.I dare you.)

Oh, I know I started it. In fact, I'm the one who went batshit insane and signed up for Sheppard on crossovers100.

So. Yeah.

*cries*

Hmm, his canon injuries wonldn't matter if he were pre-immortal. Which leaves the question who on Atlantis is the real thing and teacher material. OH GOD THE POSSIBILITES.

A minor character is actually Methos, mild mannered botanist!!!

Or wait -
John: *injured*
Rodney: EEK.
Cadman: Aw, he'll be fine.
Rodney: EEK!!!
Cadman: No, really. He'll be fine.
John: *dies*

:D!!

I'm thinking he already was, though. Figure he joined up before decapitation by roadside bomb was something to worry about, then figured he was still pretty safe flying, then he was nice and safe in Antarctica (like he said, he's lazy and likes to avoid fights), then when they were recruiting him for Atlantis he was all, "hey, possibly a way to avoid the game completely!"

Then they got there and it's more like, "hey, lifesucking aliens were not in the brochure!"

Also, I have this sick, sick urge for him to be buddies with Cory Raines.

I figured, which was actually why I made the complete opposite suggestion. I'm uh... not rabble rousing. No. Yes. Uh.

Though I can't see John being a very old immortal. Though it's interesting to think of him dying in a plane crash, except the plane is old school, one of the world wars maybe.

Cory Raines is from episodes I haven't seen (I'm a one immortal girl -- bought three seasons on DVD and still haven't seen any episodes without Methos.) and I used to wonder why all this fanfiction kept connecting him with Krycek from X-files. >_>

Yeah, he's definitely a young one. I *like* the image of him as an old-style ace, too... mmmmmmm. With a bomber jacket and one of those scarves....

*happy place*
