Claudine

A neighbour of mine died earlier today. She was diagnosed with cancer in August, and at Easter decided not to have any more chemo. She died at home, surrounded by her husband and her son, and at peace.

I didn't really know her very well, but she was a wonderful person, happy and contented and always ready with a smile. I remember how, earlier this year, I bumped into her and her husband whilst I was walking home from school and they were walking in the park, and I walked with them and they gave me a lift the rest of the way home. The sun was shining; and we talked about the fact that neither of us knew the names of all the plants and trees and that we really should do, and about how green the world was.

Good-bye, Claudine. You will be missed.
